The Story of our Hearts

Before we were His...the Lord said,

“Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!”

Ezekiel 16:6

Out of His love for you, He took you into His gentle care...

“‘...I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

‘I bathed you with water and washed the blood from you and put ointments on you. I clothed you with an embroidered dress and put sandals of fine leather on you. I dressed you in fine linen and covered you with costly garments. I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.”

Ezekiel 16:8-12

Worthy, cared for, set apart and adorned by our Heavenly Father. He completed real and divine beauty within you.

“Your fame soon spread throughout the world because of your beauty. I dressed you in my splendor and perfected your beauty, says the Sovereign LORD.”

Ezekiel 16:14

But then we trusted in the beauty of the world and let it sway us into conformity of this world and led us to devalue the anointing and care God placed over you.

“...you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, kicking about in your blood.”

Ezekiel 16:22

Out of jealous anger He responds to our degradation of His beauty and conformity with what’s just...

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant. Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.”

Ezekiel 16:59-60

Out of His precious love He responds to our conformity, He reminds us of His promise to us.

“So I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord. Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done...”

Ezekiel 16:62-63

Out His abounding love, He sent His child to take the place of the penalty we owe because of all we do against our Heavenly Father even dressed and adorned in His care and anointing...even while we were tossing around helplessly in our blood, lost in the darkness He comes and calls us to live.

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

Romans 5:8

This is the story of our anointed, adorned, beloved, precious hearts that may be easily swayed and torn by the world but are redeemed and anchored by the grace and love of our Heavenly Father. The One who saves us and calls us to live.

Live.
